The Place

Summat to Ate is situated at 48-50 Market Street, in the heart of Hindley town centre near Wigan. The restaurant premises have a fantastic history dating back to 1856. The premises which where the former Co-op have in more recent years been occupied by the Top Spot nightclub and snooker hall, but the building lay vacant for several years and the building was in a very poor state of repair when the premises were purchased in May 2009.
Father and son team, Dieter Binder & Kai Binder combined experience and ambition to convert the former Top Spot into a state of the art, fine dining restaurant establishment. Due to the state of the building, a full renovation was required to all three floors of the premises including the roof itself, which was in a dangerous state of disrepair. Using the best, most reputable builders and trades personnel in the local area, the dream of a restaurant was achievable.
A new roof, new windows on all elevations including new window openings, new doors, new shop frontage, re-pointing, acid cleaning, to name but a few of the external building improvements were made, to restore the building to its natural beauty.
Internally, the former bar/nightclub was in need of some major works to transform the site into a traditional, welcoming environment that would be the perfect venue for our restaurant.
